We recently told you about the anniversary celebration at Lucky Envelope Brewing in Seattle – read about that here. Well, that celebration only marks the beginning. For the entire month of May, the company celebrates AAPI Heritage Month with, among other things, a series of special beer releases.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This gives Lucky Envelope Brewing the opportunity to celebrate its heritage the best way it knows how; the brewery will release a series of special beers and host some fun at the brewery. Along with the beer, a series of AAPI-owned food trucks will serve up food (schedule below). The brewery will donate a portion of May’s beer sales to Seattle’s Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS)*.
“Kicking off with our Sixth Anniversary Celebration, each Saturday will see a new beer release highlighting AAPI cultural flavors while the Beer Patio will host an AAPI owned food truck,” said the announcement from Lucky Envelope Brewing. “The AAPI Heritage Month limited releases will include both draft-only and canned options that will be available until sold out.”
Lucky Envelope will donate $1 per pint, $1 per bottle, can or 4-pack, and $2 per growler fill to Seattle’s Asian Counseling and Referral Service during the entire month of May. All of the proceeds of a limited-edition STOP AAPI HATE t-shirt will also be sent to ACRS. Guests visiting the Tasting Room can also make any additional monetary donations to ACRS at checkout.

Beer Release Details:
Beer: Coconut Coffee Imperial Stout (11% ABV)
Availability: Saturday, May 8th Release on Draft and Single 16oz Cans ($8)
Description: Almost 100 pounds of freshly toasted coconut and 60 pounds of Seven Coffee Roaster’s dark Roaster’s Choice coffee blend were infused into our rich, full-bodied Imperial Stout. Notes of vanilla, cocoa, and pear from the coffee and young creamy coconut give the Stout a complex depth of flavor.
Beer: Eternal Spring Lager (4.9% ABV)
Availability: Saturday, May 15th Release on Draft Only
Description: Based on a gin-based cocktail popular in Hong Kong, the Eternal Spring Lager is a delicately flavored spin-off of our Lucky Envelope German-style Helles Lager. The addition of jasmine, lemongrass, basil, and lime mingle with the soft bitterness and hop character to create a bright, floral lager.
Beer: Cucumber Gochugaru Sour (5.7% ABV)
Availability: Saturday, May 22th Release on Draft Only
Description: Our house blonde kettle-sour was brewed with real cucumber and Korean ground red pepper. Coarse ground gochugaru is a Korean culinary staple and is one of the components of kimchi. The flavors of the chili peppers contrast the juicy cucumber, lending complex pepper flavor to the thirst-quenching Sour Ale.
Beer: Mango Lassi Milkshake Hazy IPA (6.3% ABV)
Availability: Available Saturday, May 29th on Draft and 4-Pack Cans ($18)
Description: Inspired by the infamous sweet lassi drink found throughout India, this Milkshake IPA is brewed with hundreds of pounds of mango, lactose, and cardamom.
Beer: Sixth Anniversary Juicy IPA (7.3% ABV)
Availability: Available Saturday, May 1st on Draft and 4-Pack Cans ($17)
Description: Celebrating six years in Ballard, Lucky Envelope Brewing presents a bold double dry-hopped Juicy IPA brewed with Idaho 7, Mosaic, and Comet hops that sing “Happy Birthday” to your taste buds with a punch of mango, tangerine peel, and pine.
Beer: Lychee Sour Ale (6.0% ABV)
Availability: Available Saturday, May 1st on and 4-Pack Cans ($17)
Description: Hundreds of pounds of real lychee fruit finds its way into our delicious lactobacillus-soured blonde ale. Native to Southeast Asia, lychee adds delightful aromas of roses and pear with a mouth-watering juicy sweetness.
Beer: Boysenberry Barrel-Aged Coolship Sour Ale (6.1% ABV)
Availability: Available Saturday, May 1st on and Single 500ml Bottles ($12)
Description: 42lbs of boysenberries barrel-fermented with a blend of 24 and 18 month-old reserve coolship sour barrels to create a puckeringly tart and funky red sour with notes of dark tart cherries, blueberries, and jammy pink zinfandel.
