The Port of Everett is developing part of the city’s waterfront to include more retail and housing opportunities. The Waterfront Place project is a mixed-use community that will include breweries, restaurants, winery tasting rooms, apartments, hotels, and more. The 1.5 million-square-foot development will cover 65 acres at the waterfront near downtown Everett, Washington.
The Waterfront Place mixed-use development will include 63,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space, another 20,000 square feet of marine retail, 447,500 square feet of office space, two waterfront hotels, and up to 660 waterfront housing units. Along with that, parks and public spaces, as well spectacular views of the water and the Olympic Mountains. Everett’s marina, by the way, is said to be the largest public marina on the West Coast, with 2,300 slips and 5,000 linear feet of guest moorage.
Sound2Summit Brewing of Snohomish and Lazy Boy Brewing of Everett are slated to open locations at Waterfront Place as part of “destination wine walk,” which was presumably named before the developers knew the tenants would include breweries and distilleries.
Sound2Summit Brewing at Marina Village
“This is an exciting time for Sound2Summit Brewery,” said Douglas Milnor, the brewery’s Managing Director and also one the owners. “Expanding to the Everett waterfront provides us the opportunity to expose our craft philosophy to a wider range of customers who are looking for a friendly, locally-owned brewery.”
Sound2Summit will operate a taproom at Waterfront Place but continue its operations out of the location in Snohomish. The new taproom will cover 3,000 square feet and also include a large outdoor seating area at the Marina Village, located at the corner of 18th Street and West Marine View Drive.
The new Sound2Summit Brewing all-ages taproom will offer freshly made flatbread pizzas, along with salads and other offerings. The patio seating area will welcome your furry friends, too.
Lazy Boy Brewing at Fisherman’s Harbor
Not far away, at Fisherman’s Harbor, the new Lazy Boy Brewing brewery and taproom will sprawl across 3,500 square feet of a new building at the corner of Seiner Drive and West Marine View Drive. It will also feature an expansive patio seating area. The new building overlooks Seiner Wharf and Everett’s commercial fishing fleet. A new, year-round fish market will share space in the building.
“We believe that Waterfront Place is the future direction of Everett, and we are very excited to be a part of it,” said Shawn Loring, owner of Lazy Boy Brewing. “We are looking forward to the next chapter of the Lazy Boy Brewing era at the Port of Everett.”
When the time comes, Lazy Boy Brewing will move away from the South Everett location that it has called home for the past 16 years. The new site at the waterfront offers a more visible, public-facing location, not to mention a newly constructed building. Construction of the new brewery/fish market building is slated for early 2023.
