The 13th annual Seattle Beer Week kicks off this Thursday and runs through May 21st. Across the course of the nine-day celebration, events around the greater Seattle area raise a toast to the city’s enduring love of craft beer.
The nine-day celebration kicks off on Friday, May 13th at Queen Anne Beer Hall with the ceremonial tapping of the official beer of Seattle Beer Week at 4:00. Thereafter, events in West Seattle, Fremont, Ravenna, White Center, Phinney, and beyond span the coming days. See the SBW events calendar for a list of all events.
This year the official beer of Seattle Beer Week was crafted by Black Raven Brewing. It’s a delicious, West Coast IPA with a modern twist. That is, it has some newfangled hop character as well as some good ol’ piney, resinous bitter qualities. (I’m a big fan of this beer.) It will be on tap at various Seattle Beer Week venues and is also available in cans at better beer retailers around the area.
I share a few event highlights below, which are nothing more than my personal picks — there are a lot of events that I do not mention. To see all that Seattle Beer Week offers, I encourage you to visit the official website.

Stoutfest Day 2 at Brouwer’s Cafe – This is day two of the event, but I figured that with Saturday being so busy, I’d share this as a Sunday event. A celebration of dark, boozy beers, hearty food, and good friends! Who knows what Brouwer’s might pull out of the cellar.

On this day, the public is invited to Pike Brewing to remember and celebrate this amazing woman. 5:00 ’til 8:00.
